When St James Quarter first opened its doors in 2021, Fleurtations Plantscapes was there to help bring the new destination to life with a collection of live plant displays and ongoing horticultural maintenance.

Five years on, we’re delighted to have been trusted once again to play a part in its next chapter.

As the hub prepares to launch as Westfield St James Quarter, Fleurtations has been appointed to create and install more than 170 live plant displays across the centre, introducing a new layer of greenery throughout one of Edinburgh’s most recognisable retail and leisure destinations.

The result is a carefully considered plantscape designed not simply to look beautiful, but to enhance the experience of everyone who moves through the space.

Planting within a major shopping and leisure destination comes with unique challenges. Every display needs to work within the demands of a busy public environment, from positioning and accessibility to durability and ongoing plant health, as well as considering the environmental challenges with it being an open air shopping centre.

Our horticultural team carefully planned the installation across the centre, ensuring that each display worked with its surroundings while contributing to the overall scheme. Careful planning, logistics and installation were essential to delivering the project efficiently and with minimal disruption to visitors and retailers.

And eautiful planting is only the beginning. To ensure the displays continue to look their best, our horticultural experts provide ongoing maintenance and care, including regular watering, feeding, pruning, cleaning, pest and disease monitoring and general plant health checks.

Our maintenance service is designed to protect the investment and ensure that the planting continues to deliver the same impact long after installation.

For Fleurtations, it is another example of how thoughtful planting can transform large commercial environments, creating spaces that work harder for the people who use them.

Westfield St James Quarter is a perfect example of what can happen when plants become part of the experience, not simply part of the décor.
